Here's what we were up to in 2018 ...
April - June

 

April

Texas Library Association meets in Dallas, so we host two parties at our house -- one for publishers,    another for poets.

First United Lutheran Church celebrated its 95thAnniversary with Bishop Erik Gronberg leading worship.

SV went to Emporia State University (where Emily teaches!) to be speaker for their Research Day

NTNL Synod Assembly in Temple where RV was elected to Synod Council

 

May

For National Day of Prayer: Beer and a Prayer at the church's next door neighbor

SV & RV attend the Dallas International Film festival and saw 12 movies! (including 1985, partially filmed at First United)

They then attended a Raiders of the Lost Ark Trilogy showing on May 12

SV saw Tom Jones with Arlene and Susan

SV joined her friend Lynn Akin at the Con of Thrones for Game of Thrones fans.

SV then travels to New York to lead a Workshop, then RV joined her as the start of his Sabbatical and for some fun!   

 

June

SV & RV drive to Austin where SV attends TASLA Conference, while RV visits the LBJ Library to finish paper research

RV then flies to Spokane so he can visit his brother and family in Whitefish, Montana   before driving back into Washington to journey to Holden Village above Lake Chelan, where he reflected, made a tie-dyed T, worshiped using the Holden Evening Prayer Service, and hand-dipped ice cream for village visitors

Upon return. SV & RV drove to New Orleans for the American Library Association where they were joined by Emily, Brenda, Alex, and Melissa. (All heard Michelle Obama together, and also met Emilio Estevez and Doris Kearns Goodwin).     

At the meeting, SV's committee presented the Caldecott Award

At the close of the month, Ingrid went to Olathe to help Emily and Brenda move in and plant a garden
