Here's what we were up to in 2019 ...
April - June

April

April started fairly quickly with Star Wars Celebration in Chicago. Both our adult children and their partners joined us for almost a week of Star Wars extravaganza. Did you see the splash page for the year?

We even drees in costumes -- Fleet trooper chaplain

Willrow Hood gets ready for the running of the Hoods!

Aunt Beru and Uncle Owen

, and a gathering of Star Wars Librarians

We did have to get back in time for Holy Week services and a joyous Easter celebration.
A couple of days later we went to see this Broadway Roadshow in Dallas.

Four days after that, another life bucket list -- both of us attending a taping of Antiques Roadshow in San Antonio. We took our multi-autographed Star Wars poster and were considered briefly for inclusion on the show.

May

For National Day of Prayer: once again its Beer and a Prayer at the church's next door neighbor

SV started the month finishing up about ten days dog-sitting for Emily and Brenda in Kansas

We then welcomed our former German Vicar and her husband, Pastor Katharina Behrens and Pastor Michael Behrens, back to Texas. Their visit included a Texas Rangers baseball game ,
accompanying our Daytrippers group to the Fort Worth Stockyards , a reception for them at our home, and hosting them for worship at First United.

We also squeezed in a trip to the classic Texas theater for a Beatles classic with the ever classic, long-time friends the Lawsons and Grahams.

A surprise visitor from the church's past came in the person of Jim Rindelaub! Jim now serves as the head of the Association of Lutheran Church Musicians. We hosted a small reception for him in Dallas.

SV also attended graduation at Texas Woman's University where she hooded her final PhD student..

And Sylvia started her sabbatical!!! It will last throughout the rest of 2019!!!

June

SV attends TASLA Conference early in the month. (Sabbatical does not stop professional travel as you shall see!)

Ingrid flies off to Kansas for a week with Emily and Brenda.

RV and SV go a bit less distance this month but did fit in two great concerts: Paul McCartney
and Hugh Jackman

Then Sylvia heads for Washington, DC for the American Library Association convention.
While there she discovered the Martin Luther statue.
Midmonth a wind sheer storm with hail hit our neighborhood, causing the loss of a huge tree as well as our roof.
We used trim damage to change our house paint scheme. We are quite thankful that the tornado later in the Fall missed our neighborhood. We are also thankful that despite the destruction of many home close by no lives were lost.

As the pastoral synodical representative for our conference, RV attended a dedication of a new space for a church after it moved.

Then on June 28th, we celebrated our 44th wedding anniversary!

On to the next quarter
